Like many in the equine industry, Claire has been riding horses since a young age. After high school she attended Colorado State University and acquired a Bachelors of Science in Equine Science. Since then she has managed stables in Italy and Colorado, taught riding lessons and currently owns and operates a horse boarding barn on John’s Island, South Carolina.
Not long after purchasing her first horse the woes of trying to find a saddle that fit correctly showed themselves. After too long a time trying different saddles, none that worked, she got in contact with an independent saddle fitter. The appointment with the fitter was educational and inspiring. It didn't take long before she and her horse were MUCH more comfortable and going well. A few years later she applied to and completed Mike Scott’s Saddle Fitting and Flocking Certification Course. The course requires at least 250 hours of hands-on study including case studies, internships, anatomy, biomechanics, saddle repair, and wool flocking techniques. In her business and life, horse comfort and welfare have always been the first priority. Becoming a certified saddle fitter is another step towards making the world a better place for horses and their humans.
Claire serves the eastern region of South Carolina. Please text (843) 410-9226 or email rocinantesaddlefitting@gmail.com to book an appointment.
